Notion Korea Gives Japanese Developers to Style Week

Concept Korea, a government-sponsored showcase of trends from South Korea, presented four makers to Ny style week at Lincoln Center last night.

This is the third demonstration from Concept Korea, that was presented last year by The Republic of Korea to present Korean culture to a worldwide audience.

The four manufacturers on screen were chosen by way of a panel of fashion specialists from both Ny and Korea, narrowed down from a subject of over 40 designers.

The models were presented amidst a of Asian paparazzi going after Korean actor Kim Nan Joo, while visitors tried to nab Korean-inspired snacks given by star chef Tom Colicchio before they disappeared.

“Contemporary Korean culture is truly energetic and a great deal more multi-faceted than we realize in the West,” stated Valerie Steele, director of The Museum at FIT, who curated the event. “Korea has become an increasingly energetic fashion center.”

Ms. Steele said she was excited by the various types of the four designers chosen for the showcase.

“I think this an opportunity for Americans to be introduced with a of the actual selection of wealth of fashion expertise in Korea,” she said.

The four developers had exclusive types on display: Doho introduced imaginative, female models for Jacob & Co Replica fashion-forward women; menswear company General Idea showed hip sportswear with an “outdoor durable aesthetic” (relating to this program ); London-based Giuliano Mazzuoli Automatic Watch upstarts Steve T & Yoni P were present with their trendy, downtown party-girl styles; and Lie Sang Bong — a recognised artist who also reveals at Paris Fashion nature-inspired collection.

Lie Sang Bong mentioned that the designs on display were geared to the Brand New York market, using generally Bvlgari Automatic Watch black, white and gray tones.

“Our principle with this season is Zen. I was impressed by Korean traditional paintings…the thought is dark inks on paper,” the artist said via a translator. His designs have been utilized by superstars such as for instance Lady Gaga and Rihanna.

Fern Mallis, the godmother of Nyc Fashion Week, was one of the friends at the function and said she specially enjoyed Lie Sang Bong’s collection. “There’s plenty of creativity coming out of Asia right now,” she noted.

Steve Jung, of the design duo Steve N & Yoni G, has known this for a while. As [the government] tries to push it out…it’s getting very gloablized,” he said, “now I've an atmosphere that Seoul can be very stylish. His counterpart, Yoni Pai, agreed: “There are many powerful and young manufacturers coming up this way. I believe Seoul trend will probably become powerful in the near future,” she said, “I hope so!”

But what the function is eventually targeting is always to interest American customers and merchants. Ellie Jong Yul, a manager at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Repulic of Korea, said he hopes that this publicity brings business to his country.

“In Korea, manner is just a large business, but no one really knows about this from the Western market,” he explained via a translator. “So the Korean government is trying to put forward Korean makers into fashion. And Ny is a big market.”
